Having your content available on many websites lets you get your message out to many people who wouldn't ordinarily see your work. It can bring many new readers to your website and give you even more folks who will share your work with others.
When people see your content all over the web, it establishes your authority in your field. Folks will tell you that they "see you everywhere" on the Internet.
Here are a few simple steps you can take to encourage your readers to share your content.
* Let them know that they can.
This means you'll want to tell them they're allowed to use your content on their websites or in their newsletters. If you don't, they won't realize that it's fine to share your content with their audience. Tell them that they will need to provide you with credit and a link back to your website.
* Provide reliable information.
This is very important. You must have valuable content they are eager to share with their readers.
* Provide a way for them to share your content on the social networking sites.
Put social networking buttons on your blog and web pages. Make it easy for your readers to add your sites to their social bookmarks.
* Include a "Tweet This" button and a Facebook "Like" button.
The easier you make the process, the more your readers will be encouraged to take action.
* Go to the social networking sites and join in the conversation about your content.
This is a great opportunity to have a discussion with readers and potential readers. Answer questions, make suggestions, and provide useful information on these social media sites.
* Reward everyone who shares your content.
Mention them and their site on your website, Including a hyperlink to their site where your content can be found. Leave the trackback comments on your blog. This will benefit you as well as the user who shared your content.
* Thank them.
Send a thank you message to everyone who mentions you and shares your content. Acknowledge the folks who are helping you get your message out.
Your readers who have websites of their own are always looking for good content to share with their readers. You are helping them out while getting your content in front of more readers. Be consistent and soon your content will be "all over the web".
