Atlanta is filled with fun places for people of all ages and all interests. The following places are ideal for dates, family outings, or just to get away for the afternoon.
1. The World of Coca-Cola museum. Located at 121 Baker St NW, downtown. This is by far one of the coolest museums ever. Whether you are 2 or 92 years old, you are going to have fun at the World of Coca-Cola. After you purchase your tickets, you will begin your tour with a short animated movie. The movie I saw the last time I went was an animation of a Coca-Cola factory that was more fantasy than reality, but very entertaining. Next, you will begin your self-guided tour where you can see the history of Coca-Cola in many different forms. You can watch Coca-Cola commercials from decades past, look at Coca-Cola memorabelia from decades past, watch an interactive 3-D movie, taste Coca-Cola products from around the world, have your picture taken with the Coca-Cola polar bear that wanders around the museum (guy in a really elaborate costume), watch a soda jerk mix an "original" Coca-Cola in a vintage style ice cream parlor, go shopping in the massive gift shop, and much, much more. Currently this adventure is priced at about $15 for adults and a little less for kids and seniors. You can expect to spend about 2 1/2 hours in the museum, or less if you are in a hurry to do other things.
2. Georgia Aquarium. Located next door to the World of Coca-Cola on Baker Street downtown. You could easily spend an entire afternoon just wandering through this enormous aquarium. In fact, it is currently the largest aquarium in the world. If you love animals and sea life, then you absolutely must check this place out! In their Cold Water Quest exhibit you will see a Beluga Whale, African Penguins, harbor seals (adorable!), and all sorts of other exotic cold water creatures. The Georgia Explorer gallery is filled with "touch pools" where you can literally touch sea creatures such as sea stars, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, and other sea life. The Tropical Diver exhibit is a recreation of a pacific coral reef. You will see massive jellyfish, seahorses, colorful clown fish, and fairy basslets. Planet Shark is another exhibition that is an additional fee, but well worth it since you can learn all about sharks and see artifacts and cages from the movie "Jaws", as well as full scale shark models,
