First you would have to believe there are creations of God not living an earth life with the names of angels and demons.  Then you would have to go the distance and give them a home and place of existence.  Angels, of course, are the elevated and live with God.  Where would the demons live? 

This produces a whole hierarchy of existence that needs to be classified and clarified.  And from the myths and stories this has certainly occurred over man's history.  Perhaps it stems from our fears and our need to justify our existence.

Our earth life has been identified as a learning experience.  The spirit has an opportunity to live and expand spirituality through the lessons the earth offers.

The afterlife is filled with the good, the bad, the ugly, just as our earth life is filled with a variety of souls.  These souls are all in learning mode and progressing towards their own best good.

Encounters with the spirit that fills our afterlife are real.  We can communicate and understand the progress (or lack thereof) of the individual soul.  When the soul has not learned their own spirituality, they tend to look to what they know, the earth plane, for their validation of existence.  They are not knowledgeable in the understanding of a continuity of life beyond the physical existence.  They tend to wake up a spirit form and not know what to do with themselves. 

With the lack of understanding they tend to affect the earth plane, the only place they remember living, with their spirit energies.  This is the most common of hauntings, those that do not realize they have even died.  They could not be considered demons, merely confused souls.

Just as the souls lacking evolution of spirituality from the earth plane do harm in their lack of understanding, so the spirit of these souls is set free to involve spirit energies.  And just as we have those on the earth plane that are sociopaths and commit evil deeds, so the spirit set free has not evolved beyond this activity.  Human hearts can be quite cold.

Looking to human evolution (or lack thereof) makes more sense in spirit activity.  With this in mind, we know for sure we can affect their activities and allow the light to shine upon them and all they do.  This is the road to progress of the soul.
