Poetry: Your kiss

by Susan Kliebenstein

Created on: July 10, 2010

We kiss.

How unlikely that we should find one another,

touch one another, or love one another.

Both intent on staying free,

you and me.

We kiss.

It changes everything.

An open door to loving more than we thought we should

or thought we could.

And yet we would kiss.

We would open the door and submit to oneanother's touch.

An open way to depths within the heart.

We have kissed in silent moments that move the soul.

We have kissed in times of crisis when there was no other comfort.

And we have kissed in joyful laughter and playful puckers.

We shall kiss in life and in loss, in death and in departing.

We will know the power of love's communion.

A celebration of union.

And we shall relinquish our independence again today

and tomorrow.

To celebrate and cherish the freedom we share.

We'll kiss.
