iPhone app reviews: Bullfrog Lite
Bullfrog Lite
Category: Games
Developer: Outer Level Corp.
General info:
In Bullfrog light you control a little green frog in its quest to catch some food. You jump around in different settings to catch a variety of bugs and flies. Some of these are dragonflies, horseflies, bees and mosquitoes. You catch the flies by shooting out the frogs tongue after them and hitting them. There are small red arrows pointing to all the flies on the map so that you can always have an overview of where they are. You complete a level by eating all the flies in the given time. If you fail to complete a level you will be forced to start over.
Controls:
There are four buttons that are used to control the frog. One button to spin the frog clockwise, one button to spin it counterclockwise, one to jump forward in the direction the frog is pointing and a button to shoot out the tongue to catch the flies. The controls are very responsive and accurate making moving the frog around very easy and intuitive. At times you could wish that the frog could spin around just a bit faster but that is most likely just a part of the game.
Graphics:
The graphics in this game are decent and what you can expect from a game like this. There are a lot of different types of bugs in the game so you do not have to see the same ones all the time. The bugs are pretty detailed and nicely made. The lack of really good graphics does not make the game less fun as the current graphics works well with the game genre.
Gameplay:
When you first start the game it can be quite difficult to catch the bugs but the game is fun from the get go. This is a game that can be fun for hours as you can always try to beat your own high score. The bad thing about the lite version is that it only contains 3 levels and these are over pretty fast so to really get anything out of the game you would have to buy the full version but it is a nice way to test the game out before buying it.
Conclusion and rating:
As mentioned above this lite version in itself is not good, as you will finish the 3 levels in 5 minutes but as a test run of the game before being the full version this is a good app.
