Movies you really should see

by Christina Moody

Created on: July 08, 2010

This is July the big movie month of the summer and we have not been disappointed. Before the summer is completely gone there are at least three movies you should see. The first movie is “The Karate Kid” with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. If you enjoyed the first three original “Karate Kid” movies then get ready for a boost. This movie not only has awesome karate styles and new forms it also shows the power of the human spirit. With courage, determination and a willingness to push beyond your limitations you learn that nothing is unreachable, the road to get there is simply difficult. The screen presence of Jackie Chan didn’t overpower Jaden Smith but they were equally matched and provided excellent chemistry. If you want an action packed family movie that will teach you about life’s hardships and how to overcome then watch “The Karate Kid”.

The second movie and its director require no introduction “The Last Airbender” by M. Night Shyamalan. For every kid that has watched Nick they know everything about Avatar: The Last Airbender. It’s the story of a young boy named Aang who is chosen to be Avatar, a being whose sole purpose is to maintain peace among the four elemental nomad kingdoms: air, water, earth and fire. After 100 years, he begins to complete his destiny as the Avatar, bringing down the fire nation and restoring balance. M. Night has followed all the details of the Nick series down to the very last detail. The movie even begins with the water chapter and the water symbol. There will be three more movies coming up most likely over the next 3 years. If you want to experience the magic of M. Night one more time “The Last Airbender” is a must see.

For all the sci-fi fans out there who may have been disappointed with AVPR, wait there’s hope. July 9th, our heat seeing, skull wearing predators with the bad attitude are back. That’s right ladies and gentleman we have “Predators”. Instead of coming to Earth to hunt us the predators take us home to be hunted on their predator planet. Rumor has it that these predators will be far more advanced than the ones previously seen. In an interesting twist Lawrence Fishbourne will join this classical sci-fi world. So those who have a hunger for the hunt don’t miss Predators coming out tomorrow.
