I absolutely love to make homemade food and sometimes it is just easier to open a can and pour. I have tried all the canned Baked beans and they are OK but, you can tell they are not homemade. This is an easy baked beans using canned beans but, a homemade BBQ sauce so it tastes like you slaved over the stove all day when it really only takes a small amount of time to prep. This has to be one of best baked beans I have made and I hope you enjoy.
2 cans of pork and bean's(medium cans)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons mustard (any kind I use spicy)
1/4 cup ketchup
a couple of dashes of liquid smoke
1 1/2 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 medium onion
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup bell pepper any colors
salt and pepper
1/2 package of bacon (or however much it takes to cover the beans)
If you want to drain the beans you can it depends on how saucy you like your baked beans to be.
Mix all of this together except for the bacon and put in a casserole baking dish. Cover with the bacon and bake for 1-2 hours.
I stir it half way and turn the bacon over. They are good right out of the oven or you can eat them at room temperature or even cold.
There you go it is easy and tastes so good! Sometimes I have added a jalapeno seeded for some heat and added a can of black beans in place of one can of pork and beans , so you can just add flavors that you like or take your favorite BBQ sauce you make and add that to the canned beans. It is so easy. We make these baked beans everytime we BBQ chicken or pork. If we BBQ Steak or beef we usually add the jalapeno and the can of black beans. It is great for leftovers too.
