Weight loss is part of a nearly billion dollar industry with a 5% "success" rate, encouraging clients to detox, diet, and exercise until they reach their desired weight. This can happen quickly giving the client a sense of accomplishment only to be disappointed by the short length of time before putting the weight back on. Natural weight loss or body weight balance, utilizes an assessment of the mind, body and spirit including the acceptance of assorted food addictions considering the whole person to create a plan for change. Natural methods encourage mindful food consumption, growing or shopping locally, nourishment association, fulfilling physical needs, thinking positively and creating a healthier self image.
To get started with a natural approach get a journal. Start by keeping a vigorous account of all your associations with food including time of day when you eat, where you eat, emotional associations and consideration of where your food comes from. Is it Organic? Natural? Mass produced or over packaged?
Next get into the habit of reading labels. Labels can offer information about added fats or fillers in your products. They can also identify possible food additives or synthetic colorings that could cause allergic reactions or discomfort.
Do activities that build up a sweat at least once a day and drink 6-8 cups of water through out the day to ensure a healthy ongoing natural cycle of detoxing and flushing of the body.
Become aware of your breathing, and surroundings when eating as well as being mindful of your food. Eating in a hurry or under chewing your food can result in undigested food causing build up in the bowels resulting in discomfort. If your having a meal with others try to keep your verbal contributions calm. If you overly excited when eating or drinking your more likely to be breathing at a more rapid pace and the extra air intake along with food may cause air pockets in the digestive system resutling in discomfort.
When we reduce our focus from weight in general to what the food is providing for us in our bodies we begin to recognize key elements in our relationship with food. Some food habits both good and bad have carried on from previous generations while others may have stemmed from peer pressures, stress relief or comfort.
Renewing your relationship with food and its respectable place for delivering nourishmentyour body will in turn bring on a new balance for your whole body, mind and spirit.
