Against the tide
At 6 am my morning coffee steams
My dozy feet reluctantly search the floor
I shake my head and watch my cosy dreams
float lazily through open bedroom door.
Against the tide I throw myself each day
like many tiny drops of rain I meet my fate
that smash against my windscreen on the way
they disappear, yet, I am to stay.
