Commonly refereed to as “Hotlanta”, and not just for the weather, the city of Atlanta has plenty to offer for the visitor and resident alike. Atlanta is home to Coca-Cola, Fox Network, and the largest aquarium in the United States as well as multiple other giants. Sightseeing in Atlanta can be a tough choice because of so much to see. Here are the top 5 choices of residents and visitors.
Coca-Cola
For any Coca-Cola fan there is the museum of the soft drink giant. History of the company is told through out the museum with fun activities such a 4-D movie, and a 1960 Soda Jerk store recreation where you can try out making your own Coca-Cola drink from a secret syrup recipe and soda. At the end of the tour is a free tasting of 60 different types of drinks that Coca-Cola produces and distributes world wide, most of which are not offered in the U.S.
Stone Mountain Park
Stone Mountain Park is a park with laser shows, dining, shopping, and a hike up the 825 ft tall mountain made entirely out of rock, a lift up or down the mountain is also offered for a price. At the top is a small museum with the history and formation information about the mountain. Stone Mountain is famous for its carving of the 3 Confederate Soldiers from the Civil War, which can be seen from the lift area.
Georgia Aquarium
With over 8 million gallons of water, over 100,000 sea waters animals, and 500 different species, including sharks, whales, and manta-rays the Georgia aquarium is an exciting place to visit.
The aquarium is famous for having rare species of animals such as the beluga whales, whale sharks, and manta-rays. The aquarium also hosts many events and programs through out the year, and is open 365 days per year.
Underground
Underground is a historical tour with shopping, and places to eat. There are plenty of events in Underground which can be checked at underground-atlanta.com. Underground's history tour goes into the history of Atlanta from the civil war and through the civil rights movement. The shopping offered in underground is home to a lot of specialty and culture stores which are not easily found in most other places.
Fox Theater
Fox Theater is Atlanta's spot for entertainment. Offering Broadway show, plays, music, and much more. Billboard Magazine has ranked the Atlanta Fox Theater as “The #1 non-residency venue world-wide for the decade (5,000 seats or less).” The Fox Theater is also a historical landmark of the city, being on the National Historic Register.
