The Oneness of Nature
The raindrop landed on the fallen leaf -
the wetness settled and spread
while the leaf drank in more drops
as they fell more steadily
The leaf green in its beauty
lay there receiving the fluid drops of rain
The leaf came from a hearty oak tree –
a sturdy oak that grew tall and robust
over the bridge
When the leaf fluttered to the ground
the old oak saluted it offspring -
the leaf landed on the moist earth
It had served well on the limb
with purpose fulfilled
The leaf lay now to absorb
the refreshment of the rain
They became one in communion
with the splendor of the universe.

There's a place not to far from here,
Where the mountains reach the heavens high above,
And lush green
