Whether you have a blog, a website or you are involved in other online ventures, you know that one important ingredient for success is new traffic.  Today, driving traffic to a website or a blog often means being involved in social networking sites like Twitter.  Here are some of ways that Twitter can benefit your blog, website or other online venture.

New followers are a great source of new traffic for your blog or website and can provide a new market of potential clients for your online venture.  There is little doubt that as you get more involved in micro-blogging through Twitter other Twitter users often see you as an expert in your field.  Gaining credibility will encourage Twitter users to share your information with their followers which can also help drive new traffic.

This allows your Twitter followers to see each time a new post is added. For those who have a website, you can update your site and then send a notice to your Twitter followers.  Users of Twitter who have online ventures that sell a product or service can announce specials, new products or services and promote them to your Twitter followers.

Twitter offers website owners, bloggers and other who have online ventures to instantly make announcement when something changes. Perhaps you have found a new service that would benefit others, you have reduced your prices on a product or, you have added a blog post that has wide appeal.  Special announcements can be sent about nearly any type of change that you wish to let people know about.

• New Users

One of the most interesting aspects of Twitter is how easy it can be to involve those whom you are not even linked to on Twitter. For example, if you are following and are being followed by five hundred people, chances are that each of those five hundred has at least one follower that you do not have.  Potentially, this can create an entirely new audience for your blog, to promote a product or to get new users to check out your website.  As you become more involved in Twitter, you will learn more about how to find followers as well, which can mean a significant increase in traffic.
