Summer travel tips for your hair

Summer travel will be easier and more enjoyable if you do not have to worry about packing blow dryers, curling irons and half a dozen other implements to maintain your style. If you are going on vacation you should be able to enjoy your time without worrying about your hair style. Maintaining your hair will depend a great deal on where you are traveling and what you are planning on doing.

Getting a good, easy to style haircut at the beginning of summer will be to your advantage. Shorter styles require less work and suffer less from wind damage. Shorter styles will also dry more quickly and may eliminate the need for packing a blow dryer. As a note, if you are traveling out of your country be sure that any electrical appliances you bring will operate at your destination. Common voltages do vary and you may find yourself needing a converter.

If you enjoy a long hair style add a few banana type hair clips to your suitcase. Throw in a couple of pony tail holders or hair combs and you will be able to tame wild wind blown hair. Pull your hair up into a bun for a more elegant evening look. Adding a hair comb or two can give your hair body without the need for a curling iron. You can wear long hair in many different styles without the need for too much fuss.

If swimming is on your agenda remember that chlorine can be damaging to all hair types and even more so to hair that is colored or processed. Always remember to rinse your hair after swimming in heavily chlorinated water. Excess sun can be damaging as well. Get a fun or elegant hat or scarf if you will be out in the sun for extended time periods. Do not forget that your scalp can become sunburned just as easily as your skin.

For shorter periods of travel get travel or trial sizes of your favorite shampoo and conditioner. If you can get a combination shampoo and conditioner that is even better. For extended travel, or if you will be spending a great deal of time swimming; get yourself a one use packet of a deep conditioning treatment. A deep conditioning treatment can combat the effects of too much sun, salt or chlorine.

For business travel you may want to bring along a small set of flexible curlers to maintain a business like hair style if that is how you normally wear it. If you are just vacationing, give your hair a vacation as well. Keep your style simple and enjoy your time off.
