Before you my heart was a dull shade of gray,
My life it crept forward; the same day to day.
You came along and added colors so bright,
You opened this young heart and changed my whole life.
The years passed us by and my passion grew cold,
Our beauty it faded; our love it grew old.
I took you for granted; I pushed you away,
Quite shocked when you left, but still nothing to say.
Painful at first, I knew the hurt would subside,
The subtraction of you would fade well with time.
Could return to a past; before I met you,
And find a new love just as deep and as true.
The pain went away, and that cut just as much,
The subtraction of your heart, your love, your touch.
Can never return to before I met you,
Your love turned my heart into something brand new.
Your additions live on, your subtractions do too,
Daily reminders of a life without you.

We became two,
As time passed,
We grew old together,
