Her load was quite heavy, but her spirit was light,
guided by morals and doing what’s right.
She trudged down the path leading to home,
nobody with her, but never alone.
She never conceded, but kept moving ahead,
knowing to peace is where she was led.
She smiled at those who told her to stop,
but kept moving on, on her way to the top.
Her load, it got heavier before she was done,
tempting her to quit right before she had won.
But still she continued, her heart full of love,
trusting with faith and the power above.
At the end of her journey, some scoffed at her prize,
they said she was cheated and told other such lies.
But, her heart was quite peaceful as her soul came to rest,
The ultimate prize;
a life full of honor and of doing one’s best.
Her load was quite heavy, but her spirit so light!

From behind heavy velvet drape,

Heavy footsteps lightly tread
(Closer still) coming from above.
You don't know what you got till it's gone,

Old Fires
Your words weigh heavy on my soul,
Don’t care much for goodbyes.
There was no pretense on your tongue,
No lies
Heavy and light.
With heavy heart, I stand there at the looking glass,
Remembering a time when I was light,
And gravity was
Lighten up on the homework
I can’t take this heavy load,
My book bag is bursting
And I’m not in studying mode.
