Whether you are traveling for work or pleasure, we all love to have some solitude when traipsing around this beautiful planet. But, when all is said and done, it is always nice to have friends to go out and enjoy the sights, local restaurants, nightlife and culture with. But, who should you travel with?
Knowing who to travel with depends upon a few factors. The people that you should travel with are the people that you are close to that have, or can get, the same time off of work, as well as having the readily disposable income for the trip and concurrent expenses. If you have made advanced reservations and your traveling companion has had to cancel, then finding someone who is willing to travel with you, to the same destination, and for the same time frame is no small task. Unless you offer the ticket for free.
If you happen to make your reservations after conferring with the people that you would want to travel with, like your best friends, lover or family member(s), then you can all agree in advance where to go on your vacation, and for how long. However, problems do arise, like medical emergencies, sickness, a death in the family, job losses and other problematic issues that would keep your intended traveling partner(s) from joining you once the travel date arrives. Hopefully, they can get a full refund, and you can still go on your trip, either with a smaller party, or even alone.
If you can not find anyone to travel with on the trip that you have already booked for yourself, do not be afraid to travel alone. Sometimes, you will come back from a trip that you took all by yourself feeling a lot more relaxed and invigorated, and ready for what comes next in life, than if you would have traveled with all of your friends.
If you simply can not stand to travel alone, you can also change your trip’s destination to appease a possible travel mate, if that would make the difference between traveling alone and traveling with a family member or one of your friends.
However, if you have booked a trip by yourself, and someone comes along who wants to travel with you on the same trip, then you can call in and have your reservations increased to the new number of people now involved. You may lose any early booking savings that you had made by making your initial reservations earlier, but at least you would have company on your trip that you like to have along with you. And, you may just get a multi-seat booking discount. Hey, stranger things have happened!
Knowing who you should travel with, and who you should not travel with (people who usually cause, or get into trouble, selfish, and argumentative people come to mind) is a pretty great start in developing plans for a vacation that you will all enjoy and remember fondly.
Travel safe, and remember that if you do travel alone, you travel with great company.
