Poetry: Add and subtract

by Ryan Subong

Created on: July 04, 2010

Waking up every morning

Is a great beginning

Of a new day added to this earthly life

Does this mean a strife

is subtracted from the usual course of life?

No one is certain

No one can claim

That a the day's beginning

Is a life lessened with problems.

In living this life we count for added days

We pray for decreased toil

 and blocks to hurdle...

We keep on asking

for an added blessing

without even thinking

that life is an equation...

There is a balance

of added and subtracted stuffs

For every addition,

 there is subtraction

on the other side of the equation.
