There are many natural remedies to help allergies and related ailments. The remedies included in this guide consist of infusions, decoctions, salves, and other natural home-made methods to help relieve, if not eliminate allergies and associated ailments such as red or bloodshot eyes, skin rashes, congested sinuses, scratchy and irritated eyes, coughs, wheezing and hives. Experiment with several of the remedies to find the ones that work for your situation.
To help relieve bloodshot eyes: Apply a few drops of Castor oil in each eye to clear the redness. To help relieve inflamed eyes, pour one cup of boiling water over two tablespoons of yarrow flowers. Allow this to steep for ten minutes. Strain and dip a cotton cloth in the liquid and apply it to the eyes as a compress. For a wonderful eye wash, add one teaspoon of eye bright to one cup of boiling water. Allow it to steep for fifteen minutes. Strain and let the liquid cool. Fennel and elder flowers can also be used. Use this as you would any eye wash.
To help relieve sinus congestion, eat two garlic cloves three times per day. Do this for one week. Your sinuses should begin to drain towards the end of one week. To clear a stuffy nose, put a couple of ice cube trays into a basin of water. Put just the tips of your toes in the cold water and leave them until they become numb. This may sound crazy but it does work.
To help a skin rash caused from allergies, mix one cup of red clover blossoms and leaves to three cups of boiling water. Let this steep until it is cool. Strain the blossoms and leaves from the liquid and apply it to the rash and let it dry naturally. You may repeat this as often as necessary. To lessen the redness of skin, cover one cup of parsley with mineral water. Apply this to the face as you would a rinse. Soak the affected skin for 24 hours to remove redness.
For congestion and wheezing caused from allergies, take 500 milligrams of vitamin B-6 two times a day for relief. You will notice improvement in about a month. For an effective sinus treatment, simmer two tablespoons of crushed fenugreek seeds in two cups of water for thirty minutes. Strain the liquid and add one tablespoon of lemon and one tablespoon of onion juice. Drink two cups of this mixture per day. For another great sinus treatment, run water until it is very cold. Mix together two cups of cold water with a tablespoon of Epsom salts and three teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda. Dip a cotton cloth into the liquid and place it over the
