Poetry: Happy and sad

by Stacey Smith

Created on: July 02, 2010

Hello my love, so glad you came,

Goodbye my love, wish you could have stayed.

Smiling as I move forward,

Crying as I glance behind.

Today I am happy, today I am sad.

I’ve been waiting for you my entire life,

I will miss you for the rest of my days.

Enjoying the happiness of today,

Avoiding the sadness of today.

Happiness as you kneel before me, ring in hand,

Sadness as you kneel before me, ring in hand.

I am happy and I cry as I say yes,

I am sad and I cry as I say yes

A new beginning, hopeful and joyous,

A heart wrenching end, painful and hard.

Will you someday too be part of my past?

One of the lost loves,

Almost forgotten, but never forgotten.

Yesterday I said yes to someone else,

Tomorrow I may say yes to someone new.

But today, my love, I say yes to you.

Forever I am yours, forever you are mine,

Or at least until we say goodbye.

You are the happiness of my today,

You are the sadness of my tomorrow.

I love you, I lose you,

I need you, I let you go.

Hello my love, goodbye my love.

Today I am happy, today I am sad.
