Reflections: The American Dream & overcoming racism

An American Dream

This is a reflection that is very hard for me to write. For one you have to actually ask yourself what is racism? Definition: 1. Is the belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine by cultural, or individual achievement. It concludes where one person feels their race is superior to another and has the right to be rude to them.  2. A policy, system of government based up on discrimination. 3. Hatred or intolerance of another race.

Then you have to ask yourself racism against whom? There are always going to be ignorant people out there who feel they are superior to others they come in every race I have ever heard of. They all feel it is their right to be in charge, whether it is a King, a President, A gang member, or a bully on the schoolyard. The American Dream was for all races to come together, not just each race to come together. Racism is a live and well in all nationalities. Not just one.

There is one element I have to say on this matter, a negative person will usually look for the negativity in others. A positive person will usually look for the positive aspects in other people. With this being said, now I give you my story.

There isn’t a person out there that I don’t dislike without a reason; I grew up in a small town. I was raised, unless someone did something bad to you, you treated him or her with respect. Everyone has feelings; they are made of flesh and bone and bleed red. So to tell the truth I didn’t even know what racism was until I started studying about it in school.

So where is all the hate coming from, I understand about history there has been a lot of hate for many different people throughout the history of our world. Wars were raised against all different nationalities; slaves were also made of many different nationalities. Any one who was captured became a slave; there are still slaves today.

Other nationalities that came to America were thought too lazy or not smart enough to even make a good slave out of, or to hire for a job, some died in the cutters starved and homeless, simply because they were not wanted in this land. While there were other people who believed in God differently then others and were branded and kicked out of certain states or colonies. Some were taken from their hunting ground and made to walk the trail of tears to a home where many died waiting for food to arrive for they were in a prison out government made for them. All of these are
