The greatest and perhaps most overlooked flaw in the political system which handles our country today, is that it handles our society collectively. Instead of focusing on its citizens as individuals with the need for freedom to fulfill our unique needs, what is aimed for is what could best be described as "the common good". Our government has become a creature on an continuous strife to make all of our values and morals match by brute force or spin us against each other by bitter resentment by the removal of each others opinions of what should be "our rights."

How have we become so plotted against one another? How can we fight for a common good? How can anyone for that matter fight for a common good, when what good is varied from person to person? Our government should not try to change our lives based on an imaginative public opinion when one does not exist.

There is a growing schism between the citizens of the United States while there could not be a time worse than this to have one.

How can one say that our government is out to meet our needs, when obviously, our political system is taking away our rights:

They are spending our money for us because they've destroyed our economy by the establishment of the federal reserve, and suddenly we don't know how spend wisely anymore. Yet instead of jumping the gun and re-establishing the gold standard, our economists just come up with irrational ways to deal with the same standard, and though it isn't working, it isn't changed. This is to our disadvantage because it enables us to trade not on our products but by I.O.U.s backed by money we don't have but continue to work for from 9 to 5 everyday.

The limitless restrictions adopted by our police force continually invade our privacy, as well as establish and burden us with endless and pointless aviation laws which are accounted for by means of that invasion. Not only can the majority not afford to pay the ticket price of the crime at hand, but many of us won't, causing further complications with the law, and further crowding overcrowded jails.

It's somehow become okay to criminalize and send the media to do muckraking on citizens made victim by their natural circumstances.

In training of our police to practice the law against their fellow citizens, they're made to disencourage "bad behavior" by threatening punishment where punishment is illogically given, and I ask you in the same words of The Mechanic:  "Do laws stop crime or don't they? Do laws protect us or don't they?"

If one truly must ask: does our political system represent my interests, or doesn't it? Then it's probably time to consider waking up and taking a stand for ones individuality, because this growing submission to a collective whole is going to take your freedom, your rights, then bend and break your knees.

If anything has come out of this, it should be the inspiration to learn and to  make change. Above all, now is the time to stand, because if you don't, no one, specifically not your government, is going to do it for you.
