Lucy Hill is working as a top executive for a successful company in Miami but her life is about to change when she gets roped into taking a new position for the company which she reluctantly accepts in the hope it will get her the promotion so wants.

The new jobs sees Lucy moving from the warm and fast lifestyle of Miami to the cold and snowy Minnesota. Little does Lucy know that the last people who went to take on the job she is going to do have been run out of town by the locals as they do not like the idea of strangers coming into their town and trying to change things. The town is small and the people all know each other inside and out, they all work or are connected to the factory which Lucy is going to work at.

Lucy instantly takes a dislike for the town and the people and this is only added to when she meets the union rep Ted Mitchell. Soon Lucy is given the task of having to make several of the staff redundant as they will be replaced with machines but things go wrong for Lucy when she actually starts to enjoy the lifestyle and people of her new town.

Will Lucy find it in her heart to give the workers another chance at the factory or will she be run out of town before she can even get to work? Just why does she have such a hatred for Ted Mitchell?

I really did not know much about this film before I bought the DVD but I liked the storyline which was briefly described on the back of the DVD and I also like the two main actors in the film so I decided to give it a go.

I found the role of Lucy who was played by Renee Zellweger to be great. She started off as a very hard woman who was very career orientated and did not like having to give up her sunshine and lovely apartment to move to the remote town for work but as the film went on she did start to change and I much preferred her when she was a lot softer in both appearance and attitude. She worked well with Siobhan Fallon who played her assistant Blanche and I loved how they were so different. The differences between the character did make for some very funny viewing at times. The stand out character for me had to be Ted Mitchell who was played by Harry Connick Jr. He really did give a wonderful performance and I loved watching the storyline and the history of his character come out in the story. He also worked well with Renee Zellweger and their on screen relationship was fun and entertaining.

The storyline was good but I did find that towards the second half of the film I really had worked out the ending,
