Nowadays Dimitris Salpingidis is the best offensive football player in Greece. From the 2010-2011 football period and for the next four years will struggle to the group from Thessaloniki, PAOK. Dimitris Salpingidis is a Greek football striker, who is active and playing for PAOK FC in Thessaloniki (north Greece). Born in Thessaloniki in 1981and his football career began early when still was a child from the academies of Zachos. Two years later came to Asteras Ambelokipon and in 1995 found in the academies of the veteran ace of PAOK, Giorgos Koudas. In 1997, at age 16, is part of the amateur team of PAOK and two years later signing his first professional contract with the team of PAOK.

The first official appearance at football stadiums took place on September 30, 1999 when PAOK faced in Tumba Stadium the team from Geargia, Lokomotiv Tbilisi for the UEFA Cup. PAOK won that game with the score 2-0 and Dimitris Salpingidis scored the second goal of PAOK and the first of his career. Current coach was Ari Chaan.

From the second half of the same season until the summer of 2000 played in Larissa (b national category) in the form of a loan. Then he returned back to PAOK for about six months and then was loaned to Kavala (c national category) for a year and half. During his new contract, Dimitris scored 20 goals in 28 appearances and became top scorer in the C national category.

In the summer of 2002 with an introduction by the then coach of PAOK Aggelos Anastasiadis, Dimitris Salpingidis returns again back to PAOK. The first official appearance for the Greek football championship held on August 25, 2002 against Panathinaikos, where the team of PAOK won the match with the score of 4-1.

From 2003 and after Dimitris Salpingidis struggling as a core and at the end of the season managed to win his first title. PAOK won Aris at the final match of the Greek cup with 1-0. Two years later (2005-2006) proclaimed (as player of PAOK) top scorer of the A' national category by scoring 17 goals.
