Her Strength
She’s thirty-three
A mother of two and one on the way
For six months her husband’s been in jail
She visits him every chance she gets
And she doesn’t miss one of his calls
She’s doing the best she can on her own
And every free moment she gets
She spends it praying to the man above
She doesn’t know how much more she can take
So, she puts it all in his hands
Hoping her prayers are next on his list
And for the sake of them all

She no longer visits him
And she misses all his calls
She runs around forgetting the kids
She’s even forgotten who she is
She’s no longer doing her best
And every free moment she gets
She spends it sleeping off the night before
She doesn’t know how much more her kids can take
As they put her in the Lord’s hands
Hoping she won’t be the next to go
From this world and from their lives
And for the sake of her
They have her strength
