Basketball brawls: The 'thug mentality' of the NBA

The NBA has changed rapidly in recent years. The NBA used to be viewed as a sport where fans not only could be entertained, but to see players with God given skills. It was unheard of to players/fans literally fighting among themselves. NBA fights have gotten so out of hand that you'd think the NBA would have heavier penalties for players who continue to disrespect the game. NBA players need to realize that the majority of their fans are of a younger generation. They are idolized by children who have dreams and aspirations of becoming the next Michael Jordan or the next Larry Bird someday. I totally disagree with the so called "thug mentality" illustration of the NBA. I blame the NBA front office for letting it get out of hand and with that, players feel it's alright to be hostile for the moment and everything will be blown over...NO! You don't hear people complaining about brawls in hockey. NHL fights to me are like "backyard brawls". NHL fans love to see fights on ice. I believe people pay tickets just to see a fight even if they're not real hockey fans. I also feel that the NHL promotes fighting because if they didn't, NHL video games made by EA Sports wouldn't include fighting. My point is, times have changed in basketball for the worst and it needs to get better quickly as possible because they're a reflection of what the NBA will be in the future.
