Life was a cop drama staring, Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi. Charlie crews, (played by Damian Lewis), was wrongly imprisoned for twelve years for killing a family. After new evidence was found to clear Charlie’s name, he was released with a pardon, the return of a badge and a hefty payout of 50 million dollars. With a new job, a new partner and a new life, he brings with him the power of Zen, appreciation for fresh fruit and serious ass kicking.
Sarah Shahi plays his partner, Dani Reese—a former narcotics agent, isn’t so sure about him. With his out-there-theories and recent exposure to the new world of detective work, Crews takes his partner on a whole new level of fighting crime. She is at first asked by her captain, to try and discover something “off” about Crews that would be grounds for suspension, but Dani instead, backs him up on numerous occasions.
Charlie Crews lives in a huge house with his prison friend, Ted—who falls in love with his estranged father’s fiancé. And crews has a secret room where he has been tearing the murder case—which cost him his years of his life, his wife, his friends and his job—apart, piece by piece. Throughout the series Charlie Crews is trying to uncover the conspiracy that put him behind bars. The only survivor of the murdered family is, Rachel, who Crews discovers has been adopted by the guy who actually committed the crimes against her family. Rachel eventually moves in with Crews and he continues his illegal investigation of his framing.
Jennifer—Crews’ ex-wife—who divorced him while he was imprisoned and re-married and had her own family, didn’t believe his innocence. After Crews was released he has his own fun with her and her new husband, following them around, pulling them over and issuing them tickets, just for giggles. He makes advances to her on several occasions and eventually she gives in—once or twice...
Meanwhile, in the second season the new captain, Kevin Tidwell, (played by Brent Sexton), is instantly attracted to Reese, who doesn’t get or appreciate his quirky and somewhat sleazy come-ons. He constantly needs help from Reese to understand Crews’ ways, and eventually just realizes that it’s better to roll with it that to fully understand.
