Despite what people may think, movie days are a must during the summer. Be it during rainy days or just a day when you need to get the kids to settle down and relax. Take take the duvets, pillows and teddy bears into the sitting room, bring up the popcorn and drinks and don't worry if the kids spend the whole day there watching some of the all time favourites. For a small selection of these favourites check out the list below;

The Babysitters Club Movie

This heart-felt story is based on the popular books which see seven friends overcome many obstacles and have many adventures while babysitting. One summer their bossy, tomboy, but much loved president, Kirsty,comes up with the brilliant idea of a summer camp for the kids they sit for. However things soon start to go a bit crazy when absent fathers show up, love affairs go astray and not mentioning the general madness that goes with running a summer camp for kids.

My Girl

This funny, warm film stars Anna Chlumsky (Vada) and Macaulay Culkin (Thomas) as unlikely friends, one, obsessed with death and intent on getting rid of her father's new girlfriend and the other who is 'allergic to everything'. Vada feels guilty for her mother's death and therefore lives in a cocoon only letting the one friend in. Things aren't helped by the fact that she is in love with her English teacher but when Vada sees her father falling in love with some woman she soon realises the things she has to do to stop it.

Parent Trap

This is a story about twins, separated at birth because of divorced parents, for reasons never really explained. The twins, both played by Lyndsey Lohan, meet accidentally at summer camp and after initially hating each other they soon realise they are related. From there they decide to get their parents back together by switching places and therefore forcing their parents to meet again. This crazy plot makes for some hilarious watching.

It Takes Two

Two identical strangers, one rich kid (Alyssa) wanting to escape from her evil step-mother-to-be and one orphan (Amanda) wanting to know what it is like to have a family, meet by chance one summer. The girls plot to get rid of Alyssa's money-grabbing step-mother-to-be and to unite her father with Amanda's case-worker, Diane, who the girls are convinced he is 'meant to be with'. Trouble ensues, of course, but nothing two little girls, hell bent on getting what they need, can't handle. Another hilariously touching film.
