Online writers have several options that allow them to take advantage of revenue sharing opportunities. Revenue sharing is more commonly known as the splitting of the earnings from various affiliate programs or advertising programs. The reality is that for writers, revenue sharing opportunities exist in several venues. Here are some of the potential revenue sharing options that freelance writers can review to find out which ones work best for their needs.
Helium - Helium offers multiple ways for writers to earn. In addition to being able to earn incentive payments on articles, money from contests and marketplace opportunities, writers also participate automatically in the revenue sharing from advertisements that are placed on the site from various advertisers. These advertisers include revenue sharing ads like Google AdSense and Kontera. As people read articles and various advertisements show on those articles, Helium earns money from the ads and shares the revenue with writers.
Helium writers have the ability to promote their writing which typically results in additional page views. As the page views increase, Helium earns more from their advertisers and because of that, writers also earn more. A well written article that is promoted properly can earn a significant amount of money for the writer from revenue sharing. The revenue sharing continues as long as a users account remains in compliance with the Helium Terms of Service.
SheToldMe - This is a social bookmarking site that shares the revenue from AdSense 50/50 with those who bookmark. This site encourages writers to link to their articles or blog posts. As pages or bookmarks are viewed by other users the site generates AdSense revenue. SheToldMe also pays directly to existing AdSense accounts.
RedGage - Writers who have a lot of patience may also consider submitting their links to RedGage. This site does not pay nearly as well as other revenue sharing sites do. This site encourages writers (and others) to submit links to their work whether it is on Helium, blogs or other sites. These bookmarks can be promoted and RedGage pays via revenue sharing. The popularity of the work determines the amount of revenue that is shared for various types of content.
RedGage also encourages submissions of photographs, videos and other media with the restriction that it must be self-created work. Those who use RedGage can watch their earnings build up on RedGage while they wait for payout. RedGage has payout level of $25 which is paid via a debit card. Be sure that you review this carefully as the card has some restrictions and fees you need to be aware of.
Revenue sharing for writers is a good way to develop long term residual income. This form of income is considered by some to be passive, however promotion and regular adherence to the terms of service for each site will require some ongoing effort on your part. Each writer should explore revenue sharing. Over time, revenue sharing may provide a substantial monthly income. Passive revenue can be earned with a combination of high quality work, and consistency. The more effort writers put into revenue sharing models, the more their earnings may grow.
