Calvin Coolidge stated, and really warned, that “the business of America is business.” Unfortunately political parties, Unions, and bleeding hearts all over the country want to emphasize that the business of America is Jobs. Do any of these organizations even remember where American jobs come from? Do they remember that this country was founded by entrepreneurs? This country was founded on the right for the individual to work and improve their own life.
While the Recession is not solely resting on this issue, the fact that everyone is focused on increasing jobs is not going to dig us out of this slump. The Federal Government is overly concerned with increasing jobs, and not fostering an environment in which businesses can thrive. Healthcare overhaul, sweeping financial reform, are just a few of the buzz words that enable the Federal money pit to take more control over an already stifled economy. Their view is to serve everything on a victory platter to the workers while starving the people that hire them.
The worker is an absolutely vital piece in the business machine, but without the capitalist minds and pockets driving that machine, the worker has no work. Were the lessons of the Soviet Union forgotten? Have we forgotten why so many Russians tried to leave the blessed utopia? When business owners are over regulated and workers over appreciated that is a perfect environment to foster Tyranny. Currently European countries are being toppled by their own spending. They promised their citizens that all workers are entitled to free healthcare, unproductive leaves of absence, and early retirements. Where has all their money gone? That is what the working rioters are asking.
The government methodically whispers in our ears attempting to ease our worries. It has created jobs with the trillions of dollars it granted itself. We of course learned in the great depression that government jobs will snap any economy out of a downturn. How long was the Great Depression?
Now the voices of the lowly worker will echo throughout the country that the rich are too rich, and that the workers stay too poor. So they’ll demand justice from the politicians who are addicted to popular opinion. Then the Government intervention will assure that the wealthy are punished, the poor will receive their benefits and the middle class will bear the burden to the point no one can pay for the federal promises.
