Honestly, it becomes difficult for a non technical to make a selection among the numerous LCD TVs out there. Every month a new model is released with better and newer technology. Believe it or not, a lay man out there doesn’t even know what LCD is. Most of them just know that LCD TVs are those slim looking light TVs that can be fixed on walls. But, the TV and the technology being used are way more than just being slim. There are a number of factors a person should know about before buying a LCD TV.
It is however understandable that most of us don’t have the time to really to go deep and search what exactly these TVs are all about. Moreover, the terms that are usually associated with LCD TVs are more confusing such as MRT, Contrast Ratio, LED backlight, etc.
To cut down the hectic for you, here are some tips on buying the right LCD TV:
Resolution:
First the foremost, check out the resolution of the TV. Don’t settle down for anything less than 720p resolution. This is the lowest resolution of an LCD TV you should go for if you really want to have a theatrical experience while watching your favorite movies.
Viewing angles:
Second most important thing is to check the viewing angles of the LCD TV. Viewing angles are basically angles from which the TV can be seen perfectly. A poor and cheap quality LCD TV doesn’t have good viewing angles and a person viewing it from 45 degree angle might not get the best results. Viewing angles should always be around 60 to 70 degrees.
Contrast Ratio:
Contrast ratio is the ratio between the darkest screen and the brightest screen of the television. A contrast ratio of 1000:1 is good enough to go for but nothing less than that.
MRT (Motion Response Time):
MRT is important! MRT basically refers to the capability of an LCD TV to display moving objects accurately. Higher the MRT rate, better the viewing experience will be!
LED Backlight:
Although the concept of LED backlights is relevantly new but it is the best option. Before LED backlights, LCD TVs didn’t really perform well but now they can. LED backlights make the images crispier and clearer so don’t go for a TV that does not have a LED backlight.
These are 5 major factors a person should consider before buying an LCD TV. Always remember, never ever go for a cheap LCD TV. The technology is far too good to be cheap and if it is cheap that means it’s with a number of flaws.
