A Little Further Down the Road
They drove all night long on those wide open roads
Silence filled the air as the distance between them grows
She looks out her window; as the world passes her by
She takes a moment to catch her breath; hiding her tears inside
He looks her way as he tries to say something to her
All she could do was ignore his glance; she just wasn't ready for words
He tries to talk about what hurts her so deep inside
She says she's ok but, he knew that was a lie
The car lights shine all the way down the road as far as she can see
She wondered where this road will take her; eventually
Her head is turned away from his she keeps looking outside
Her heart starts beating faster and she doesn't know why
Her house is just a little further up this forever road
She can't wait to get home to shed this heavy load
That seems to carry her away to another part of herself
What he calls his own reality he made into her personal hell
She can't help the way that she feels she tried to stop this death of her heart
She really did love him but, loving him became just to damn hard
They pull up to her house; he looks to her to give her a kiss goodbye
She can't even breathe! She can't kiss him let alone look into his eyes
She sighs and gives him that look as her hair falls upon her face
He brushes it away; just to look at her really not knowing what to say
She gives him a nod, "Nice to see you again" as she carefully opens the door
She slowly walks away with keys in her hand; she just can't cry anymore...

Poetry: Lost love
by Olu Burrell
I think about you when I'm looking ahead
And also in moments of reminiscence
But do me a favor and don't ask me
To tell you
The man in the jacket, walking through snow,
His faithful friend, always in tow,
Forever smiling, happy look on his face,
Whatever
So there we were
Looking up at the sky,
Together.
Truly thought
That you and I
Could storm
Any kind of weather.
I still
Do not wait for me with bated breath,
because my heart dances to and fro.
Its chambers are hollowed and empty
it longs for
As a bird perched on the edge of its nest
eyes searching the unknown world outside
strengthening its wings, yearning to fly
