I use Myspace to promote my music and it is going really well! Its a great way to network and find people to collaborate with. I also have a personal page were I can make friends in other areas, for example in my personal page it gives my age, film preferences, a list of heroes etc...

I can then divert people from my personal page to my music page! I also have the music page as my best friend, which is a great tip. I only really tell people about the music page if they haven't caught on that I am a songwriter, but most tend to click on anyway and then add me there!

Promoting music and selling it on Myspace has become even easier since 'Tom' introduced SNOCAP. This allows musicians to sell their music not only on their myspace page but on any other website that will accept them, SNOCAP is simple to use and its 'Pay per Download', so the musician gets to set their price per song, and SNOCAP take a small percentage.

Myspace allows you to link your personal website too, which is great as the more popular you become; the more hits your website gets! Another great tip is to leave comments on 'high traffic' sites, like established famous bands and artist pages of similar genre to your own work. You are guaranteed more traffic this way. Browsing is also great if you have the time, and then add the people you think fit the bill, but its a great tip to check the 'adds' and thank them personally by leaving nice comments!

It isn't a good idea to slap large advertisement comments on people's pages as it is rude and inconsiderate; people will tend to respond if you have read their profile and just comment on something you have in common. For one it shows interest in the person, and two, it shows you're humility.
