Can you earn money by running a website? The answer for this question is an absolute yes! The only question here is just how to do it? How exactly you can earn a decent amount of money by running a website?

In general, if you have a decent website that generates high volume of traffic (visitors), the chances for you to earn money from it should be higher. That is at least, statistically speaking. There are quite a lot of things that you could do to translate those high volume of traffic into a respectable monetary figure. They are called monetizing a website.

This is a list of things that you could do to monetize your website.

1. Advertising.

Advertising is one of the biggest and most lucrative businesses on Internet. In fact, Google could grow so big and powerful because of its phenomenal success of its Ad Sense programme. Ad Sense is a plan where you put Google adverts on your website. You will be paid every time people click on those adverts. Basically, if your website have a big audience and repeat visitors, you shall get more clicks, which means more money! Other than Google, there are a host of other advertisers with their own programme as well. All you need to do is to find a good one and be their partner!

2. Selling things.

This is one of the most obvious facts of life. You can only make money when you sell something of value to people, be it a certain product or service rendered. There's no other way round! As much as some other things that you could do, at the end of the day money is generated via selling something! Do I have to mention eBay? It's so obvious that people tend to overlook it. So sell something that people want. You could do this by selling your own product or other people's product by joining them as their affiliate. An affiliate is basically a reseller where you earn certain amount of commission every time you could make a sale. Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular programmes on Internet to generate money.

3. Offering your service or expertise.                

People have variety of hobby and expertise. You could translate these things into money as well. For example, if you are into photography, you could offer a photography session with certain fees.
