Creative wedding reception table centerpieces

When choosing wedding reception centrepieces, most people stick with tradition. Flowers arranged in a variety of ways often adorn the tables and although they always look charming, it is not necessarily the most creative choice. With a little imagination, you can have your very own creative wedding reception centrepieces that look interesting and beautiful.

Wedding reception centrepieces look best when they represent the season. For a winter wedding, take advantage of the Christmas decorations in the shops and use white and silver baubles. You can create your own unique centrepieces using florist foam painted white, small twigs or wooden sticks and hanging the baubles from them. If your wedding has a summer theme, placing seashells in the centre of the table will look very classy. Alternatively, purchase some transparent beach buckets and fill them with sand – then decorate with seashells or however you see fit.

Elegance is important at a wedding, so perhaps some floating candles would suit your taste. Just set them in a bowl of water and guests can watch as they slowly float around. These candles can be purchased in a variety of colours so you could stick to traditional white or match the colours to suit your theme. Another interesting centrepiece idea is putting fairy lights in a glass bowl. This technique was a very popular feature in homes a few years ago and would look stunning as a centrepiece. Please note that if you attempt to use these techniques, you must ensure that you use heat resistant bowls.

Bundles of helium balloons always look good as table decorations. It doesn't have to be too expensive either. Two or three wedding balloons in the centre of each table won't stretch your budget too much and there is always a huge variety of designs to choose from. If you have the cash to make the balloons that little bit more special, personalised balloons are a lovely touch.

At some weddings, it is customary to show a slideshow or video about the newlyweds. If you're not keen on having the whole wedding party focusing their full attention on you after the vows, photo cubes make interesting centrepieces. Select your favourite photos of yourself and your new spouse and fill the cubes with them. The guests can then look at them in their own time.

Wedding centrepieces are an important part of the wedding preparation, so making the right choice is vital. To be really unique, focus on the things that represent you and your partner and find a way to incorporate them into your decorations. It is your day, after all!
