Titled: Father
Yesterday I met a man,
I've known for my whole life.
Yet the man I met began,
A trek so full of strife.
He still seems optimistic,
He still knows how to smile.
This man I thought simplistic,
Made my life worthwhile.
He taught me the responsibility,
of keeping my own word.
He taught me the futility,
Of arguing the absurd.
He showed me the joy,
of picking up a book.
He would fix my favorite toy,
No matter how long it took.
And when he went away,
He missed my "Daddy fix its".
He spent so many days,
Alone with his own wits.
I feel so much regret,
for the time that we have lost.
This wonderful person I met,
Came at such great cost.
