How political campaigns are using social media for real results

Since the internet became a hot commodity it has grown beyond what any person thought it would be. Millions of people from all countries view and download tons of information on a minute to minute basis. With all the social media outlets such as: Facebook, Twitter, youtube, blackplanet, Myspace and etc. Political campaigns use these social media outlets to relate to the millions of people who are online. More people today get their information off the internet then on television, newspapers or magazines. So yes using social media is making politics exciting and relatable.

Now in my mind I remember that our current president used social media to reach millions of old and new voters. President Obama sent out mass friend invites to get more voters into what was going on in his campaign. Asking people to donate to his campaign and he collected a lot of donation this way. Being able to reach millions with a stroke of a button is priceless.

With youtube, political campaigns can post video of every speech or tour that is going on. Letting the people know about how much they're doing to improve the country. Talk about how they feel about the current government is doing the good and bad of it all. If you're an unknown candidate putting something on youtube, people can see and hear what views you have on different issues. Having a face to put with a name can make or break a campaign.

The social media that keeps you up to date on minute to minute happenings is Twitter. Everything that people are thinking is put on Twitter. It is one of the most recognized social media outlets out there right now. On Twitter you can post everytime a thought crosses your mind. Lets face it people are nosy and they love knowing about everyone's business.

Another way to keep in contact with people is through e-mail getting updates about different issues that are affecting us politically. You the person have to sign up to get these emails. There are a lot of email accounts you can get hooked up with: yahoo, google, hotmail, godaddy and etc.

Real results, yes the different social medias do make a big difference in political campaigns today. Since the younger generation is more interested in knowing something right now, the internet is where you need to be. Keep the data coming and watch the number of hits to a political campaign site rise.
