Getting into debt is very easy when you do not know how to manage your finances well.  Getting out of debt can be very difficult on the other hand, unless you figure out some ways to manage your finances better. Instead of making decisions impulsively, it is wiser to follow some useful tips that will help you get out of debt.

Tips on how to manage money to get out of debt

1. Use only cash

Plastic money gives you the illusion that it is okay to spend a lot, pay just the minimum monthly payment and have lots of time to pay off your debt. It is highly unlikely not to overspend when you pay for everything, or almost everything with credit cards. The only way to keep track of your spending is to use only cash. With cash, at any given moment you know how much money you can afford to spend, as well as when to stop.Overspending is highly unlikely when you use only cash.

2. Pay more than minimum payment

When you pay more than minimum payment, you pay not just for the interest, but for the balance as well. Get into the habit of paying as much as possible, more than minimum payment, on a regular basis. If that is not possible for one month, do not get disappointed. You can make up for it next month, or the month after that.

3. Ask help from friends and relatives

Instead of applying for loans to pay off your debt, it is best to ask financial help from friends and relatives. People you know well and love you will be willing to help you out with ease. They will be willing to be  patient regarding deadlines, show understanding if you ask for a time extension and in general, will be more willing to accommodate your needs than a bank counselor, who simply sees you as a customer and nothing more.

4.Cut back on unnecessary expenses

Cutting back on unnecessary expenses will help you eliminate costs and save money. Prepare snacks and meals instead of spending money to eat at restaurants. To break monotony, you can experiment with new recipes at home. When going out to eat, prefer doing at lunch, where meals are usually cheaper. If you want to go to a fancy restaurant once in a while, you can skip deserts or appetizers to pay less. Take advantage of sites such as Hulu.com, where you can watch your favorite shows and movies for free. That way, you won't have to go to the movie theaters often. Even when you decide to go to a movie theater, you can still save money by going to free movie screenings. If you can wait in line for a while, you will see it is really worth the trouble. Your local library is an excellent way to read as many books and magazines as you want, at no cost whatsoever.

The above tips can help you to manage your money to get out of debt. If you incorporate all of them in your daily routine, your sucess is guaranteed.
