Just how reliable is an iPod? What is the good of an iPod? Why are people willing to fork out money to be a proud owner of an iPod even though it is priced above average market prices for mp3 players?
For the younger generation, getting an iPod is becoming a popular trend. It's like a must have when you go to college. If you walk to class with the white earphones plugged into your ears, you look cool, up to date and trendy. Is that really the case? Or is it just because an Apple iPod is just that good?
My first iPod was purchased back in year 2005, if I am not wrong. It's a 4th generation iPod with the new ClickWheel technology just being incorporated. Some 4 months after I became an owner of an iPod, Apple released the color version of mine. I was bummed. I felt that Apple is just the same corporate company who keep releasing updates a few times a year to get people to buy their products.
But yes, I was still satisfied with the quality and entertainment my iPod can provide me. As a heavy computer user operating of lots of data transfer, the iPod also doubled up as my super portable external hard drive, with a built in mp3 player. And it connects with both USB and Firewire adapters, and it can also be charged through those connections. Not many comparable mp3 players exist at that time that could offer so much.
Moreover, the iTunes program used to sync my iPod is a really great program to use. Me having an iPod forced me to start using iTunes, and I have been using iTunes ever since even though I haven't synced my iPod for like a year. The features and user friendliness of the program and iPod's interface rank second to none in the mp3 market.
Last summer, my apartment was damaged by a 45 minute flash flood. All my stuffs, computer, digital camera, printer, TV, books, electronics and iPod were underwater. And my iPod didn't function well even after I air-dried it. The hard disk inside was spinning and stopping at every interval of 5 seconds, but it won't work. All my music and data stored in there were gone. I was devastated, of course. Then after a few months, I was looking for some stuffs under my bed and I came across that very same iPod. I picked it up and plugged in into the USB port. The low battery signal came up. Walla! After charging it up, it now runs! Yes, now it is fully functional.
I was really impressed. That is how good an iPod is. I believe for a less amount of money, you can get an alternate mp3 player to the iPod. But nothing is like the iPod and it's just heads and shoulders above the rest in a class of their own. It dominates the mp3 player market for a reason. People don't really buy because of the hype. People buy because it is better, and above average price cannot take that away.
