Street Fighter 4 is the long awaited return of the street fighter games. This game goes back to its roots with classic characters and classic moves which made the franchise so good in the first place. This time there are only a handfull of new characters and mostly all of them are classic fighters from the excellent Street Fighter 2. The graphics now are in glorious 3D and HD creating a sort of cartoon like look to them.
The game itself plays just like the classic Street Fighter 2, for example to perform a character's special move is exactly the same combination of buttons that were used in street fighter 2. The classic characters are also present along with a few new ones. The game itself also plays just like any street fighter game, pick a character and fight your opponents one on one until you become the street fighter champion. Each character has there own reason why they are fighting in the tournament and all together each character's prologue and ending tell you the story of Street Fighter 4.
As I keep saying, Street Fighter 4 plays like a very modern Street Fighter 2. Capcom obviously knew Street Fighter 2 was the most popular game of the franchise and decided to base the whole game around it. Which is great seeing all the classic characters and their own iconic moves performed in HD are awesome and if you have ever played Street Fighter 2 before you will quickly learn how to play this game too. The moves, the characters, the music and even the stages are of a strong resemblance to SF2.
Of couse somethings have changed there are new modes to play including survival mode, time attack and trial mode. There are five new characters to play as (and as new Street Fighter characters go, they are okay.) You can of course take the fight online and play against people all over the world to see if you really are the ultimate street fighter. The music is great as well the title theme is quite weird for a street fighter game but it quickly grows on you, most of the original characters have their own themes (The themes have been remixed again from Street Fighter 2.)
Overall, Street Fighter 4 is a great game and a great welcome return for the series. Capcom finally decided to do the right thing by adding all the classic characters from Street Fighter 2 and not changing them in anyway from their moves to their characteristics everything you want from a Street Fighter game is present and correct here. The only disadvantages I can think of is the four new characters are okay but not great, but the biggest disadvantage is Seth how is the final character you have to fight against. Seriously he is very hard I can hold my own on Street Fighter but even if you set the difficulty to easy he still is quite tough, it may not seem like a disadvantage but trust me you will need to turn down the difficulty just to beat this guy you will find all the other fighters really easy to beat on easy mode, but once it comes to Seth...well, good luck!
