It's easy to come up with good ideas if you're at all creative. Here are some things I've done, most recently for Valentine's Day. Maybe someone else can try some of these as well.
* In the two weeks leading up to the day, post little notes and decorations around the apartment/house counting down the days.
* Make a card on the computer. There are many card programs out there, or for the more advanced, design your own on Photoshop. It's actually really fun.
* Make a website. I made a website to ask my girlfriend out in the first place. Fill it with things about the two of you; pictures, quotes, memories, whatever you can think of.
* Musicians: Play a concert for your significant other. I'm a guitarist, and I learned several songs to play and sing to her. She loves it when I do that, so if you are musically inclined, I say go for this. Also a lot of fun.
I hope these tips serve someone well. They are all fun to do, and it makes things feel more special, the more things you can think of to do. It doesn't always have to be about material items.
