Throttle the "Free Press" in America - I am all for it and here is why! Repealing of the First Amendment right to "free speech" would not interfere with Progressive Americans to near the degree that it would start bending back of the iron cold fingers of propaganda which holds a death grip on the voice box of media which is strangling the general freedom of our Nation.
A Free Press is not a necessity in a democracy as evidenced by the strict control of the media in the United Kingdom, a democratic nation. The concept of a free press is rather a democratic luxury. Ironically the English with their restricted media and the American free press have the same modern day master.
Australian publisher Rupert Murdock has bought the American and English press and used his powerful international media conglomerate to push his radical right,ultra-conservative point of view down the political throats of both countries condemning the expose' souls of journalists such as Edward Murrow and Mike Royko to everlasting darkness.
America's Fox News is a prominent example of the Murdock methodology. Bill O'Reilly, Rupert's on-air henchman does the political dirty work, twisting the truth and distorting the actions of worthy people in opposition to his ruthless boss every day. True to Republican "Swift Boat" journalistic style he misnames his show "the no spin zone." Ironically like other underworld lackeys, O'Reilly personally is of low character being constantly involved in episodes demonstrating an innate lack of moral turpitude but always escaping exposure by wrapping himself in the flag" and screaming "traitor" at anyone trying to unravel him from Old Glory.
Mr. Murdock as an accomplice to the Bush Administration and the Republican Party has added catch words and phrases to the American lexicon that have corrupted the very fabric of our society, dividing and weakening us. "Homeland Security" for example. When did we stop being the USA, America, Texans, 49ers, Hoosiers, The Show Me State, Floridians, New Yorkers and 44 other proud states and become the very WWII German sounding, "Homeland."
The "Patriot" Act, The "Patriot" Missile are further examples of scoundrels wrapping their misdeeds and questionable acts in the flag, WWII German style. What purpose is served affixing the idealogical sentiment of "patriotism" to a physical piece of paper or weapon system? Ask yourself as you watch a newscaster or politician speak about these things; "Why do people who want to sell me on their
