How to Prevent Common Relationship Breakups
Relationships are a beautiful thing but all too soon the bloom can wither and die. Here are some things you can do to prevent your relationship from ending.
Open communication is the best way to prevent your relationship from crumbling. Ask your partner what is happening and ask him or her to open up to you. Try expressing your feelings for each other. If you cannot express everything by saying it, write it down in a letter. If you have problems, talk about it without yelling. Find the root cause of the problem not the outcome of the problem. For example, the root cause of the problem might be some situations wherein you caught him with another girl and the outcome is jealousy. Acknowledge that you had that feeling when he approached that girl and tell him that. He might have some reason why. When you realize what are the root cause of your problems, you two can work together to fix the problem.
Stop accusing your partner. It will only result into something like an argument. Talk to your partner in a civil way. When you accuse your partner for something, he or she will end up being very defensive and you two will engage into an argument. If it is easier for you, write down what is on your mind, and while they are reading it, leave them be to process what you have just written.
While the two of you are talking, do not insult your partner. When you talk to your partner as if you have no respect to a person, will only bring up more issues. Never try to solve a problem while breathing on each others' necks.
Try to share your opinion on the matter. Never neglect yourself of the things that you really want and need. If your needs are not met, tell your partner. It is easier that you let them know that they have neglected your needs.
Never lie to your partner. Although it is human nature to lie, at the very least, spare your partner the truth. The more you lie the deeper the issue will become. Even if it something small like you have forgotten to bring her keys, tell her. A relationship only works when there is trust from both sides.
The tips above do not guarantee a long lasting relationship but somehow it will help you through difficult times in your relationship.
