My nightmares haunt me
But your memories won’t leave,
Can’t you see,
I’m not meant to be,
I’m just a monster haunting,
Haunting my own dreams,
To be afraid is natural,
But why won’t you leave me,
Why must you watch as I change,
I can’t stand seeing your pain,
As my anger changes me,
It takes the flesh from my bones,
And gives me freedom,
But here I am, haunted by what I can’t change
Why must I be this beast,
Who must I blame, if not me,
Can’t you see,
My past haunts me, as this moon calls to me,
Like the snake that calls in my dreams,
It tells me what I want,
It shows me how to be,
It taunts me with the knowledge I need,
Why must it be,
You cannot see me,
You cannot see me change,
I am a beast that cannot be,
To love is not an emotion I know,
So this fake smile is all I show,
My body is worn and damaged,
But my soul leads me on,
Why must it be,
Am I going insane or is this me?
Must I feel torn all the time or can I change,
Maybe the moon will finally take me,
Give me the wings I need to be together,
She sees me with her all seeing eye,
She feels me, but she doesn’t know me,
I am not as bad as I have seen,
My nightmares are not what I fear,
It’s what I have become,
I’m damaged by fear and regret,
So you shall never see me upset,
One day though the world shall see me,
Broken, weak, and full of anguish,
But not today, they cannot see,
There is only one, but she doesn’t know me,
The truth of my pain,
The truth of my insanity,
But for one day I hope she’s there for me,
To pick the pieces of me,
To make me strong, when I am weak,
And to show me, that I am not crazy,
To let me know that I am not alone,
For my nightmare is the worst fear I possess,
Maybe one day I will be able to own it,
But it won’t be today.
