Nintendo has gone through some incredible transformations in the last 20 years, and with many of today's new games, its more than just a workout for your fingers. Nintendo Wii will make you sweat, move, and give your body a better workout than you could ever get at the gym. Best of all, it actually makes exercising fun and something you may even look forward to. This is especially true when you have the opportunity to experience the game, Dance Dance Revolution, for Nintendo Wii.
Dance Dance Revolution comes with a dance mat, which also works as a controller. The huge mat has 4 arrows that are used for the dance steps. The game includes tons of upbeat songs that range from popular 80s hits, to Lady Gaga. There is also other original dance music made especially for the game. Each song has its own unique dance sequence that will test your agility, mind, and memory. The game gives you a grade based on how well you master the routine. The more precise the movements are, the better score you get.
Like in other Wii games, on DDR, you can create your own Mii. For those unfamiliar with a Wii, a Mii is a character you build to look like you. You could also choose one of the other crazy-looking characters. Dance with Wii dancers or dance along to music videos by your favorite artists. Some of the real music videos include "Just Dance," by Lady Gaga, "Pocketful of Sunshine," by Natasha Bedingfield, and "Closer," by Ne-Yo. You can pick out unique and colorful outfits and choose from a variety of elaborate dance stages. Choose from dance studios, moving stages or shiny disco stages. You even have your own backup dancers.
The start screen for Dance Dance Revolution has several different options for dance activities. If you're not familiar with DDR, you probably want to start with the dance school. In this mode, you take lessons that start off slow and pick up the pace as you get better at the steps. Dance School teaches you the basic steps you'll use in the game. Arrows roll down the screen to tell you exactly where to step. It may seem a little difficult in the beginning, but with practice, you get the hang of it. In workout mode, you keep track of the calories you burn. You can choose to dance with just the DDR game or you can use the Wii remote and Nun-chuck to get your arms in on the action and burn double the calories. In this mode you can also use the Wii fit balance board and rotate your hips to the music. The game will give you a grade based on how well you master the steps. Keep practicing to get better grades and become a DDR pro! If you just feel like dancing for fun without following any rules or specific steps, you can also play your DDR in relaxed mode. If you're in a competitive mood, challenge all your friends in the tournament mode.
No matter which mode you choose, you'll have a great time showing the DVR your moves and dancing along to your favorite music. Dance Dance Revolution is great to play at parties, family get-togethers or on your own. If you want a workout that's fun and challenging, DDR is a great choice.
