Moms who work at home often have to juggle a lot of things. Besides setting aside time to complete their work, they have to juggle the household chores, sending the children to and fro from school and etc. However, there are also some great tips for moms who work at home and here are some of the following:-
Organizational Skills
Once everything is organized, it is pretty much easy to work from home. Make sure that there is enough supply of stationery like stapler bullets, scotch-tape, files, folders, racks and many more.
Have a small space for working and avoid clutter in this portion. Work space and utensils should always be organized so as not to mix both work and personal stuffs. If there is a study room which can be converted into an office area, that will be a great idea.
Safety
If there are devices like scanner, photocopier, printer and the fax machine, make sure that they are kept away from children. Have a restricted area for these devices from children so that there will be no injuries. Be careful of electricity plugs and etc, and prevent water spills. Keep a habit to keep everything in safe and away from hazard.
Avoid Clutter
Make sure that wires are secured. There are some appliances in Do It Yourself shops which allow all wires to be roped into one. This is to prevent the many wires lying about which may cause clutter as well as looking very unsightly.
Keep things clean and clear off dusts and bacteria. Make it a point to clean work space and area at least once a week and wipe off all dusts and sweep the floor. Aim for a conducive work environment.
Divide Time Wisely
Co-ordinate time wisely and have a time-table of when to do work and other personal things. Remember that there is a time for work and play. Be disciplined and stick with it. Be firm with your time. If it's time to make a call to your business client, do not delay in doing it. If needed, hire a care-taker to cater to the needs of the children. Remember never to procrastinate too long.
Snacks and Beverages
Do not snack around unnecessary but if you must, keep it in a tight-lid container, near your work desk area. Keep light and healthy snacks which will fill in the hunger pangs so that there will be enough concentration for work. Avoid foods that make you sleepy and tired or lose concentration.
Roles and Responsibilities
As moms who work at home, there are a few roles. They are being an employee or a self-employed person, a mom to the child/children and a wife to someone. Do not cross over the boundaries and organize the time wisely.
Follow a schedule and stick to roles and responsibilities to achieve. For instance, do not forget when to buy groceries, plan the children menu or water the plants, iron the clothes and etc. If you have a maid, delegate duties well and avoid being a tyranny. Don't forget to set aside and spend some precious time with the husband as well.
Conclusion
Working at home can be a fun thing for moms, if done properly. With good time management, one is able to gain great success as well as being able to keep a lookout for the children, watch them grow and be happy as a family.
