GHOSTS OF GETTYSBURG:
The sky was dark with sulfur and smoke
The smell of death was hanging in the air
The sound of war was filling up my senses
I try, but can’t forget what happened there
The field was soaked with blood and sweat and tears
As blue and gray turned quickly into red
And still the battle rages on inside my dreams
I close my eyes and I can see the dead
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Marching onward through the fog at night
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Marching every time I close my eyes
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
I will never be free, from the ghosts that still haunt me
I still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg
I see the fallen soldiers all around me
As brothers battle onward through the night
And I forgot all the reasons we were fighting
Victory came at much too high a price
And all I want to do is just forget
Everything that ever happened here
I’m drowning in a sea of tears and regret
I’ve lost my soul and all that I hold dear
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Marching onward through the fog at night
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Marching every time I close my eyes
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Oh I will never be free, from the ghosts that still haunt me
I still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg
No reason left to fight, but hate
No destiny except for fate
No time to think of fallen friends
No hope to see my wife again
No bullets left inside my gun
No tears to cry, no drum to beat
I wish that I could turn and run
But there’s no trumpet for retreat
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Marching onward through the fog at night
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Marching every time I close my eyes
I can still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg calling
Oh I will never be free, from the ghosts that still haunt me
I still hear the ghosts of Gettysburg
