From the moment we first met,
I wanted to be a part of your world,
But, your eyes jutted past me,
You did not speak,
Please let me in!
I tried to talk to you,
I wanted you to respond,
But, you stayed enclosed in your own world,
You would not invite me to join you,
Please, I am begging you, let me in!
Watching you struggle,
Has broken my heart,
But, I looked for glimmers of hope,
As you moved slowly beyond each hurdle,
You are beginning to let me in!
You say my name when you want something,
Your eyes still will not meet mine,
But, you respond by turning your head in my direction,
Whenever you hear my voice,
Could you be inviting me in?
I know that life will be a challenge,
Autism is not something, for which we wished,
But, together we will meet the challenge,
Face-to-face,
Until you willingly let me in!

Knock, knock
Let me in
You can't shut me out forever
Here I've always been
Knock, knock
Open your heart
Don't you remember
I've
To a true love
The words of three
Let me in
Should never have to be said
Only acted upon
By their love they have for
