Robert J. Samuelson wrote a column saying Obama's discussion of "addiction to fossil fuels" is false mythology. Why are we pursuing nonsense? The Obama administration must reply to Samuelson, or change government policy. To continue ignoring Samuelson is unacceptable! How can we stop the government nonsense? The time has come to get tough, using criticism, satire, and scornful humor. We must fight our false prophet Obama. It is irrational to ignore clear objections to policy. We must be rational, not emotional, to survive and prosper as a nation.
The solution is education. We must educate the American public on the uses of oil, such as plastics, clothing, agriculture, travel, and such. We must educate the public on the energy opportunities, such as vast riches of gas and shale, and include the risks and dangers, and discuss research opportunities. We can educate by television programs, Internet sites, magazines and pamphlets dedicated to education. Of course, universities need to have adult education courses on these topics.
The need for public education is broader than energy development. We need to educate the public on medical issues. We need television programs, adult education, and such to discuss the statistical nature of disease treatment, benefits and drawbacks to antibiotics, how to choose doctors, and the meaning of insurance. Otherwise, people demand antibiotics when they do not need them, and demand expensive treatments that do not help.
We need to educate the American public on the nature of our Constitutional republic, including the responsibilities of citizens. With proper education, people will know how to use their critical thinking abilities to sort out propaganda and false advertising. Currently, government statements are similar to misleading advertisements on commercial television, using beautiful words devoid of meaning. "Take this medication after talking to your doctor and you will not have to go to the bathroom as often." Yes, sure.
Meanwhile, let us take the attitude that everything Obama says is true in the opposite sense. If he says we need to end our addiction to oil, it means we need to increase our exploration and use of oil. When he said he will eliminate the corruption in Washington, it means he will increase the corruption in Washington. When he says BP has done great harm to the American people, it means that the Obama administration has done great harm by saying no to efforts to save the marshlands and jobs. When he says the economy is improving, it means the economy is getting worse. When he says we need higher taxes, it means we need lower taxes. When he says we need more stimulus funds, it means we need less stimulus funds. We must take this attitude for all statements from Obama unless he provides us with convincing logic. We must say he is wrong and stupid unless proven otherwise. We must say this in order to survive the vast propaganda from the government.
