When you decide to build a swimming pool in your house, you probably know for sure that it will be there for a long time. So you can say that it's a long term or permanent swimming pool. But you can still remove or close the swimming pool when it's needed in the future. Speaking of a long term plan, having or building a swimming pool in your house means that you need to be ready if one day you need to repair your swimming pool in the future. It often happens that the old swimming pool is broken in a few parts, especially when it's made of fiberglass.

Most people probably don't know that they can try to fix it themselves first before they call the professional company to repair the fiberglass swimming pool. If you want to have cheaper solution to repair the broken fiberglass swimming pool, you can try to do it yourself first. You can call the professional company to fix the swimming pool when the problem can not be solved.

Here are some tools that you need when you want to start to repair the fiberglass swimming pool:

- Fiberglass cloth

- Putty knife and polyester putty

- Disc sander and

- Gel Coat

Those tools can be found easily if you just browse on the Internet for awhile. You will see some online stores that sell the tools that you need. You just need to order it and let them ship those tools to your house.

But before you start repairing the swimming pool, it would be better if you check first how mad is the damage on your swimming pool. If the damage is only in the surface of the fiberglass, you can fix it easily. But if the damage will make a crack, then for sure it will be more difficult. Some cracks can be repaired easily with those tools that I mentioned above, but for a very serious crack, I don't think you can follow the instructions that I will give to you. Because these steps are working for a simple or easy damage on your swimming pool.

Once you know the problem and you also get all the tools that you need, you start your step with draining the pool.It should be completely dry before you start your next steps. Then you try to find the area of the crack, followed by sanding the area around the crack. The next step is cutting fiberglass pool area that has crack with the cutting tool. Try to cut about half an inch deep and outside the original edge of the crack. Then you can fill the whole with cement before you finally cover it with bond coat. After the coat is dried, you can apply the polyester putty by using the putty knife. This step can be followed by sanding the area after you know for sure that the putty is dried properly. Gel coat can be applied after this step by using paint roller.

Fiberglass cloth can be applied on top of this area in your next step. Make sure that you get out the air bubbles. After this step is done, you just need to wait until it's dry.
