"Be a leader, not a follower."
This quote was made famous generations ago. It served well in making people understand the importance of imagination and innovation. It served well in making people realize the importance of being individuals and not conformists.
Leaders created the trends. Followers followed those trends, sometimes to their detriments.
Fashion had always been ever-changing. Many times, Hollywood celebrities began whatever trend became popular. One day, Paris Hilton decided (probably on a whim) to take her chirhuahua out for a walk in Beverly Hills. She took a dog out in a tote bag! This ridiculous approach to embracing man's best friend started a consumer, buying spree. Soon, other starlets started buying "pooch bags" for their own dogs. Those starlets influenced their fans who bought pooch bags as well.
Stars influenced fashion trends. Sometimes, they worked. Other times, they should've been left alone.
ANY CLOTHES CHOICE COVETED BY THE UNTAMED, MILEY CYRUS
Two days ago, a recent picture of Miley Cyrus appeared online. She was attending some A-list event and wearing an unique ensemble. The diminitive entertainer wore bell-bottom, black leather pants, a black lace tanktop with an oversized, black leather coat.
Her outfit was wrong on its face.
The leather pants were skin-tight. Her jacket had shoulder pads which made her shoulders appear larger. It looked similar to those infamous, De Lorean jackets wore by former, political "fashionista", Madeline Albright.
Miley Cyrus haters criticized the singer's "attempts" to look edgier and more grown-up. They commented about her duet with former Poison lead vocalist, Bret Michaels. They disliked the somewhat risque photo she took with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley's fashion choice seemed to draw ire from young fans and adults alike. Her choice may had angered parents more than anyone. It was clothing "too sexy" for a teenage girl. It was age inappropiate personified!
Unintentionally, Miley Cyrus's outfit served as warning label for parents to their kids.
"This is what hoochie mamas wear! Don't dress like this!" They probably cried. Miley may had missed her mark. But, she wasn't the only offender of the "Fashion Police".
